The medium-size Hoplophoneus Saber Toothed Cat was a extinct Genus of the Nimravids Group that lived during the Oligocene Period. It had a general body type like Smilodon, but is not considered a true cat. The name Hoplophoneus is taken from the Greek for "armed murderer". This prehistoric cat was about 4 feet long and weighing in around 85-100 pounds. It had very sharp and long canines, with a long lower jaw that was adapted for opening it's mouth wide to smoother prey. This prehistoric carnivore may have hunted similar in style to Jaguars. This specimen was collected on private ranch land about 20 years ago. Actual Specimen Pictured & Guaranteed Authentic.
